Privacy Policy for Capio
Effective Date: March 18, 2026
Capio is designed with a "Private First" philosophy. We believe your thoughts, ideas, and work rituals should remain under your control. This policy explains how we handle your data within the application.
1. Data Collection and Usage
Capio processes the following types of information to provide its core services:
- Work Logs: Done, Todo, and Blocker entries, including tags (#), mentions (@), and time markers ($).
- Application Settings: Your preferences for themes, language (i18n), and experimental features.
- AI Service Configuration: If you choose to use the AI Assistant, you may provide your own LLM API keys (e.g., OpenAI, Gemini).
- Analytics and Crash Reporting: With your explicit consent, we may collect anonymous app usage data and crash reports using Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to improve the application. We do not collect any user-entered content or work logs.
2. Local-First Storage Principle
- Local Storage: All your work data (DayEntity) is stored locally on your device as JSON files.
- No Central Server: Capio does not operate a central server to collect, store, or analyze your personal work logs.
- User Control: Your data remains private and is only shared externally when you explicitly use the "Export" or "Copy" functions to send text to third-party tools like Slack.
3. Third-Party Integrations (AI Assistant)
- Data Transmission: When you use the AI Script Generator, the specific text you select is sent to the LLM provider (OpenAI, Google, etc.) to process the request.
- API Key Safety: Your API keys are stored securely in your local SharedPreferences and are never accessible by the Capio developer.
- External Tools: Capio integrates with system-level features like URL Schemes (capio://) for productivity tools like Alfred or Raycast, which process data locally on your machine.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
Since all data is stored locally, you have absolute control over its retention.
Deleting the application or manually removing the local JSON files will permanently erase your data.
